Karen Hartsing Memorial Scholarship
| Our Facility |  The 2002-2003 Karen Hartsing Memorial Scholarship was presented to Marie Confroy by the Kathleen Academy of Dance during the Finale of their annual recital program.
This annual scholarship is given in memory of Karen Hartsing, a former ballet dancer at the Kathleen Academy of Dance who passed away in 1977. The scholarship is a full year ballet scholarship to the Academy. Marie is a dedicated dance student at the Kathleen Academy of Dance, where she studies approximately 15 hours per week. She is proficient in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz and lyrical styles of dance. In addition, Marie has been a student assistant at the dance studio for the past several years. Marie is a Senior at Immaculata High School in Somerville, where she is the dance captain of the Color Guard team. She is the Editor of the Spartan Newspaper. She has been a People to People Student Ambassador. She is a member of the Spanish Honors Society. She is the Co-Producer of the Immaculata Video Yearbook. She is also a lifeguard at Hillsborough YMCA. Marie has also dedicated her time and talents to the Show Biz Kids, a community service group of dancers from the Kathleen Academy of dance. Marie lives in Hillsborough with her parents and two brothers. Her other hobbies besides dance include writing, reading, swimming and theatre. Congratulations, Marie! Keep up the great work! |
